Hmm presume youre talking about windows XP if its a new computer. Not sure how come the PB taskbar is purple, but if you want to change the XP colour scheme then right click on the desktop, choose the Appearance tab, then select the Color Scheme drop down menu and you should be able to choose between blue (the default option), silver and olive green (if not then check the Windows and buttons drop down menu shows Windows XP style).
If you want the old skool look then choose Windows classic style from the Windows and buttons drop down menu.
Hope this helps.

I bet you also have a banner in IE that says packard bell, or somthing daft...
If so then to remove the banner delete the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Window Title
so go start\run and type regedit thenfing the above key.
Also you can remove the colour scheme by using a utilty from packard bell...
http://www.packardbell.co.uk/
or you could install a microsoft app called Tweak UI here... http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...ertoySetup.exe
you can change lots of things with this...
Use these and you should be sorted...
