Default What is AUP Banner?

Anyone heard of this??

Someone I know is asking me but I've never heard of it.

I think it may stand for Authorised User Policy Banner and that its the banner you receive after you press ctrl-alt-del to log on, the one that you can customise to say something like 'Do Not Log Onto This Network Unelss You Are Authorised' etc but I'm not sure

Any ideas?

Hanley

I've always known it as a login banner.

Is this any help? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q101063

BTW, the caption key determines the dialog box heading and the Text key is for all the legal blurb.

AUP is an "acceptable use policy"

windows call it a "legal notice"

FYI.

Acceptable use policys in our company, log you off if you disagree.

Alternatively you could simply use the GPO setting that displays this whenever anyone logs into the Domain....

to be fair we dont let users login to our servers, nor do we run 2003 on the desktop

does it log them out if they disagree, that was the main issue
