Question £600 to Spend on a PC - PC World ???

Ok I know, not everyone's cup of tea, but I'd apprecialte some impartial advice on this offer that PC World have on :

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/300549

I only know the very basics when it comes to computers, but this PC seems to fit the bill, and is in my price range too. Plus it has a 19" TFT

Any advice, reccomendations would be appreciated

Doesn't look too bad for the money, the only thing to note is that the graphics card, and more than likely the monitor are not going to be up to modern games.

If you can buy the components and build the system yourself, you will get a better spec PC that way.

However, if this is not an option then the PC you have listed isn't too bad but as already mentioned it could do with better graphics should you want to use it for games etc.

Its mainly just for the internet and e mail at home - I don't tend to play many games.

Building my own isn't really an option.

Thanks for the input...

If I remember rightly you dont get any Cds for software from PCWORLD, much better to buy a Dell in my opinion.

You will need to watch out for there offers to get a really good deal but it is possible. I got a P4 3.0 , 1024mb Ram, 160GB hard drive, 17" Flat panel for about £425 inc Vat and Delivery and that was about 4 or 5 months ago!

Would it be easy to upgrade the graphics card? and why would the monitor not be up to modern games?

I've tried Dell and I can't get anywhere near that spec for £600

A lot of people have said try Dell but IMHO they are not that good value

Try Aria, a good company to deal with. You can get a custom built pc - spec'd exactly how you want it. Don't worry about what to choose, SN can help you!

You can customise your pc build by going here: http://www.aria.co.uk/ click Desktop Pcs & then click Start Building.

BTW The Lian-Li V series cases are excellent quality & match a Mac in looks.

yeah Dell list prices are abit misleading, when you select a model & customise it to some sort of reasonable level it goes from £400 to £1100

first thing with Dell, is to knock off the 3 year collection warranty, that will reduce the total by about £100 ish

Yeah the graphics card is not a major item and a hundred quid would get you a semi-decent card in replacement. With regards to the monitor as it's part of a bundle they may have saved a bit of money here by using a cheapo monitor with a poor response time which could be bad for gaming.
