Have you plugged the power leads into the card ?

If so best bet is to check the fan cables are connected to the board and if they are RMA it.

For ATi cards you have to plug in one of the 4-pin power plugs off the Power Supply Unit into the side of the card.

does the card need 100% contact? Due to the power build of the case "his choice"!!.

cannot get the GPU 100% in, about 2/3mm off being in at the front of the socket so i can see a little gold on the contacts

yeah its best to get it all in. which end wont go in, the edge of the M/b side where you screw the holder in place?
Is the PCI-E layout the same as AGP where you loose a PCI slot because of the fat GPU fan?

Can usually be resolved by loosening the motherboard screws, and moving the main board until it sits in the right location to allow flush fit of the GPU & PCI cards, then tighten them.

a) doesnt fit in without REALLY pushing it in the slot
b) cant get the bit closest to the edge of the case in.

its the actual lip that the PCI cards skrew into. thats whats causing. Issues. Short of cutting that lip off or sending case back ..........?

Super-si,

Something I ended up doing for PCI-E builds was keeping a spare Nvidia 6200 (about 30 quid) to hand (that works), so that if I have problems I can use it to test.

Obviously not a great deal of help, but can help isolate problems, which is useful if you do a lot of system builds for people.

Hope you get it sorted, Alex
