Battlefield 2 hangs online...
Very annoying problem I can play BF2 fine in single player mode, but can't play multiplayer as it causes my PC to hang.
Anyone using this game with an ATi X600 card?, I've a feeling it's this that's causing me grief but don't really want to go buy a new card just to check.
Latest drivers for card and everything on my PC.
Any tips?

i used to gte bf2 crashes from using the latest nvidia drivers
switched to older drivers to solve the problem
using older drivers also solved the cracking sound that i had
sometimes the latest isnt the best

Make sure you have Catalyst 5.9 drivers installed, BF2 is patched to 1.03 and ensure there are no other programs running while you run BF2. To do this press CTRL, ALT and DELETE to bring up Task Manager. Click the Processes tab. Click the User Name heading so all processes are listed by user. Do not terminate any processes run by LOCAL SERVICE, NETWORK SERVICE or SYSTEM. Terminate all processes being run by the current user EXCEPT for EXPLORER.EXE and TASKMGR.EXE. Then run the game. This should eliminate any potential software conflict.

Thanks for the tips, yes have patch 3 applied. Managed to play for a whole 5 minutes last night till it rebooted.
I hve noticed the info on the game states a ATi X600 PCIe card, well mine appears to be a PCI card (checked the BIOS and it's set to PCI), changed it to PCIe on the BIOS and tried again....booted ok and started to play the game but then bombed out.
Looks like it might be because I got the PCI version of the x600 not the express bus model
It don't tell you you need the PCIe version on the box though before you buy it!

This has a load of things you can do to improve the way it plays... but sounds like you've got more basic h/w issues.
