hmm, the clear film is stilll felxible so any impacts will just transfer through the material and put a dent in the case or crack the screen. It would certainly be good for avoiding scratches.

Your right its not for impact damage its only for scratches and scuffs, its design so that you dont loose the original look of the ipod, no point making something look nice then enclosing it in a black case etc

It was originally designed to protect helicopter blades so is very tough
