AMD or Intel .... ?
Time for me to upgrade my board and chip, and ideally I don't want to spend more than around £150 on the CPU so I was wondering which chip to go for. Which would be the better investment : a socket 939 Athlon 64 3500+ or the Intel P4 650 3.4Ghz ? Does anyone have any experience of either or both of these CPUs ?
[edit] the socket 939 motherboard I've seen looks good as it has both AGP and PCIE slots on it, does anyone know of the existence of a similar setup in socket 775 ?

AMD are good cheap processor and good for gaming with. Although Intel still have it in the raw processing stakes.
Depends what you want to use the PC for. If just for gaming, internet, wordprocessing etc.. Then AMD as they are kicking Intel into touch. But if you want to do some hardcore Video editing or CAD etc.. Then INTEL will speed things up for ya.

Either are good, both have weeknesses, although AMD have closed the gap considerably over the last year for encoding, video editing etc... AMD do win out on the gaming stakes, but the difference in other areas is tiny now.
AMD personally, bang per buck is better.
