I have just VNC'd into someone elses PC
Went to log into my work PC and BT must have changed my IP address. I thought someone must have been messing about with the PC at work but its someone else's PC at home.
Is it legal? Oh what fun I can have.
Any suggestions

The chances of this happening must be quite slim. Should I open word pad and tell him? What can I write. "Dear sir I was trying to access my PC and found myself hacking your PC by mistake"

He needs to be told as surely a simple port scan tool will reveal his pc to be wide open. Off the top of my head i cant remember the vnc port, just dump it in his startup folder or just open up notepad and leave a message. Maybe a bit unethical but it would be better to let him know than have some other guy go in and delete his work

ports 5800 and 5900 are the ones used by VNC. Hell of a co-incidence that someone else is running VNC on a machine that you happen to have your IP address changed to.
Incidentally, if you are intending to use VNC:
1. get a static IP assigned for your use
2. make sure you are encrypting the password as VNC will send it in clear text by default.
