One in the eye for those dodgy XBOX360 evangelist pimps like Dream Weaver, DJ Dunk, Iain, etc...

The day when I'll REALLY be impressed, is when they I see something that I couldn't tell was a computer game. Graphics are 'good' but still clearly NOT the real thing. Watching the above, you could easily tell it was a game.
as above 'must try harder'

looks good. actual ingame graphics or the usual better looking video footage? as long as its not like the hideous computer graphic car stuck on a 'real life' photo background like the gt4 photos were

How can it look like GT4 or even GT3 when i have spotted two crucial advances that is demonstrating the PS3 power capability.
Look at the amount of cars on track. In one freeze frame i have counted 16 cars...
We now have an internal view and it only took them 5 incarnations
I will buy both 360 and PS3 as i do with every new console that comes out

I've had a PS since 1996 now, and will always have one. I used to rubbish teh Xbox til I got one, now I like both machines equally and will do the same with the PS3

Nice, but it would be nice to see some ps3 footage that wasn't pre-rendered though. Until I see some video of someone actually controlling a game, I won't believe a thing I see

Hi Chaps
Nice to see we can have a larf about the whole subject. We were probably discussing the same things on here when PS2 and XBOX came out originally! Yep, as DW says most of us will buy both platforms - its just fun winding up the people who stick with one platform and fiercely defend it against the other!
Pre-rendered ? Nah all Kojima's games for example, have ended up looking like their demos.

So how come everyone has forgot the pre-rendered argument was directed at BOTH Sony AND Microsoft earlier in the year at e3 ? So if GT5 is pre-rendered, what makes you think PGR3 isn't ?

I have seen a bit of work-in-progress gameplay footage of ridge racer 6 on the 360 though and that did look stunning, even before the game is finished

Taken from a games related website today...
"We’ve just received a batch of six new images from Microsoft for the Xbox 360 title Gears of War. Four of the six have been confirmed to be “in-game” shots, but we should note that the other two concept-art pics (numbers 3 and 4) are rendered drawings that aren’t in the game itself."

looks like's whoever went to the trouble of comparing two tech demo's is a little rattled!
"Microsoft responds to MGS4 trailer
Short of securing exlusivity over Final Fantasy, nobody expected Microsoft to blow Sony out of the water at Tokyo Game Show; not only is it the company's home turf, but Xbox 360, despite significant improvements in Japanese support, still has a ways to go establishing itself.
Still, who could have known Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots would make such a splash? The slickly cut trailer even acts as designer Hideo Kojima's commentary on the console wars, pointing out the PlayStation 3's Cell processor as the key advantage over the competition.
Microsoft, however, isn't so sure. "Cell processor or not, when I look at the technical specs, I don't see anything that concerns me overly from a performance point of view," said Peter Moore, corporate VP of worldwide marketing and publishing for Xbox in an interview with GameIndustry.Biz.
Moore's response seems more sidestepping than anything else, but he goes on to emphasize Microsoft's mantra about launching ahead of Sony. "Quite frankly, having the ability to move first in this space, I think, provides us with the opportunity for a huge advantage," he continues.
In fact, Moore suggests the commentary may actually be an admission of weakness from Sony about the hardware. "The fact that they feel the need to have Snake tell you that it's powerful, that could be seen as a sign of worry, or weakness, potentially," he says."
Ultimately, though, it appears Microsoft's relying on gamers coming to their own conclusions than anything else. "Gamers are a very smart bunch, and gamers who still haven't seen a PS3 or seen one played, will make the determination. The English expression is, the proof of the pudding is in the tasting," he says.

[climbs onto high horse]
Actually that image Wah posted above gives a good indication with 'one' of the things wrong with the games industry. Whether the image tells a true story doesn't worry me. It does evoke this response though...
Style over content.
Why pi$$ away processing resources on things that don't add to the experience that much when there's more important issues. Far too much attention is payed to eye candy and it doesn't advance the genre as much as other things would.
[gets down off his high horse]
Warning - Spurious random comment follows...
I BLAME MEDDLING AMERICAN PUBLISHERS* FOR THIS SYNDROME
I'll get me coat.
*publishers - money men / financial backers with too much say in the direction of a game. A stranglehold thats draining creativity from every new title.
