Default Stopping the download of files

Hiya

We are currently running windows xp professional at work and I want to know if its possible to stop some users downloading files/programmes? Do we need to purchase additional software?

How do they connect to the internet? If you have ISA server then your in with a chance.

No we don't, so I take it we need to set one up in order to achieve what we want

Not neccesarily. If you had MS ISA server then you could control it and keep logs on users.

You could do a search for some proxy software which you could install and do pretty much the same thing as MS ISA at the fraction of the cost.
