Default BT ADSL - Router installation

A question to all you boffins out there...

I am trying to install a Netgear ADSL Wireless router and it is asking for my login and password for BT Broadband.

Does anyone have clue where I get this information from - as I did not have to use anything - it just connected to the interweb and does so automatically.

Any help would be much appreciated

I have BT Broadband and have had it for 2 years or so. I seem to recall that all you got was a username and no password. So when I set my router up to connect I put my username in. something on the lines of joe.bloggs@btbroadband.com
Although that is not my true login.

Did you not get any info via the BT Broadband starter pack?

I seem to remember having a similar problem when I installed my netgear (also on BT broadband).

I think the password is a default of 'bt'

With the username being XXX.YYY@btbroadband.com

hope that helps

The router I have (D-Link) it would not allow for blank passwords to be entered. I think I ended up just putting in the word password.

If you are connected with bt, you would have something like john.smith@hg62btinternet.com and then a password that you have specified when you set up the account.

When you say you usually connected via the interweb what do you mean? does your pc have a modem that is connected to the phone line? or are you already on a network?
Give us a few more details on how you currently connect and people here should be able to help you.

I agree with you jaytc2003 I have BT broadband. The user name you state is correct, mine is very similar. I do have a log on password.

Have you ever tried to access your BT emails from another PC? You have to log in with your username and password when you do that.

When I first registered I got a number of emails saying DO NOT DELETE, giving me usernames and password.
