Default File Names to spreadsheet - how?

Hi,

I need to add a list of filenames (over 1500 files) from a directory into a spreadsheet, is there a program out there that can make this a lot quicker than typing?

The best way i've thought of at the minute is to find a program to generate a text file with the filenames in and then inport into Excel.

Any program recommendations?

Thanks

Use a command prompt type

dir /s >> filenames.txt

That'll make filenames.txt with everything you see when you type dir on its own. You can play with dir so it only displays what you need, I'd do if for you but can't be arsed.

add a /b to miss out all the summary crap
and if you're really lazy, pipe it to a csv, then you can open straight in XL without the import step
