Default popup? spam or legit

just logged on as normal and had two messages pop up on screen..

just header boxes staing from system to administratior..

"warning i have 47 critical registry alerts, and need to fix my registry immidiatly..

log on to www.ms. xxxx for software to fix..

gonna do a spyware scan,... somthing was asking for access to system32 services when i logged on.. hmm

is it legit or is it a new varient of spam-popups...

i have noticed one or two creeping in although firefox normally does a good job..

Not only is it spam, but if you follow the link you will almost certainly pick up spyware, not get rid of it. Use Ad-Aware and Spybot, ignore any online offers to remove spyware etc.

Don't forget to disable the messenger service in control panel/admin tools/services as it sounds like it's a messenger message that's popping up..
