Networking a Mac onto a Workgroup for DSL Sharing.
Id be grateful if anyone could explain (technical as you like for the X86 end, but step-by-step and very simple for the Mac end...) how to configure a Mac running OS9.2, enabling it to share a DSL connection. The gateway machine is running SP2 and currently has ICS enabled.

This is one of those bloody annoying replies that doesn't help much....
but wouldn't it be easier to buy a dedicated router? Can be had for less than £50 now and you wouldn't need your main gateway PC switched in all the time - as well as built in firewall etc.

Are you using a router? Either way, the Mac side is easy peasy.
Go into Control Panels (in the Apple Menu)
Get up the network (or it might be called TCP/IP)
You should be able set the default gateway from here.
I've never used ICS before, but my Mac at work is set to DHCP, and works fine.
With my home setup (coupla Macs, a PC and XBox) I've got a DSL Router and the devices are set to static IP, but all have the same default gateway (for the router)
Mac networking is soooooo easy
Hope this helps though
