Default *.tmp files

I've noticed a few *.tmp files building up in my C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\temp directory which get created every time I start the pc and they can not be deleted. I'm sure theres some free software that will identify the application which creates them???

start up in safe mode, see if they get created then - or delete them when in safe mode.

Also MSCONFIG is a good place to start... see what is loaded on startup and look for suspicious items - just google anything you aren't sure of.

Or just use the windows "Disk Cleanup" utillity. Can be found by right clicking the C: drive and choosing properties from 'My Computer window.

Sorted it! I downloaded a free app called process explorer which identified what was locking the .tmp file. It turned out to be a file created by the windows spyware removal tool.
