Question Are Apple making an iPhone?

Seeing the amount of mac users on here thought I'd see if they know anymore about this.

Read that Apple have teamed up with Motorola to produce a mobile phone that could be launched as early as next month.

The Motorola PEBL, there is a Motorola press release showing the PEBL with the iTunes visualiser playing on the screen, don't think any details have been released yet. It's not a nice looking phone.

Are you talking about these pics?

I thought it would be white though, not making my mind up on how it looks though till I see one in the flesh.

T'is the one. It's a flip-phone so automatically filtered out of my potential upgrade choice unfortunately, I don't like them.

What I want is 20GB iPod-sized (although slightly less in the width) toy where the entire front is a colour, wide-touch-screen for video/music playback. And be a phone as well of course, and no camera.

It's not a flip phone, if you look closely you will see that the keypad is embedded in the scrollwheel.

I too would like to see a widescreen device like you describe but I'm not arsed if its a phone or not. In fact I think I would prefer to keep my phone and my MP3 separate.

http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000910048509/ shows it opened up, the burgundy model in the pics above is part opened as well, unless there are different versions?

Ah, I see where the confusion is here, the one you posted to is the PEBL model, not an iTunes phone. In fact the PEBL is already out in the US.

It's a completely different phone the iTunes one is supposedly the ROKR model. All the new (top of the line) Motorola phones have these 4 letter words/codes. RAZR (thin as a razor), PEBL (shaped like a pebble and just as smooth), ROKR (rocks to music) and so on.

Apparently the latest iPod/iTunes update includes various hidden messages for a phone (obviously not used at the moment with current hardware).

Thought you would have done, I didn't mean to sound patronising. I quite like the naming thing myself, I just wonder what they will come up with if they do a P900 type thing. CMPTR? No, PUTR, SMRT? I don't know but I guess they will run out pretty quick

There are still a lot of phones they can make ... BOOB, WEED, CHAV, etc, but for some reason it reminds me of the Ikea naming scheme
