Question Blocking Pop ups???

www.win-clean keeps flashing up on a pop up, not had any pop ups for a while now can anyone tell me how to get rid of this

have you tried adaware and spybot?

did it find many items, you may find that you will have to run it in safe mode for it to delete the item, also check startup items (run: msconfig) to see what items are coming on, on startup and more importantly if you untick them, do they come back on. If thats the case you will to manually delete them and dig through the registry to find the offending files

msconfig and startup items displays the registry settings

also are you on service pack 2? and do you use firefox?

is there any set procedure for blocking pop ups???
ie start, run etc, etc???

you will probably find that upgrading to service pack 2 helps fix the problem (im assuming your on xp), how much did adaware find?

4 files marked severe??
26 marked non critical??

We're using the new microsoft anti-spyware beta, its available from their website foc and seems to be pretty good. I have abandoned all the pop-up blockers and use the inbuilt protection in XP service pack 2, set to maximum, and it seems pretty good- very little gets through and its not too intrusive.

in internet explorer go to tools > popup blocker (if you have the latest version of IE)

Ive just used the microsoft beta, and it found all sorts of goodies that spysweeper, adaware, and spybot missed.

i got a keylogger the other night somehow even though its got all the works. nothing picked it up, now you might slag AOL off but it comes with its own spyware prog & it found & removed it so it does have some uses
