Default Can you change your IP address?

If I flatten and rebuild my pc will it come back with the same IP address and if so can I make it pick a new one?

Do you mean the one on the computer, or the one your broadband supplier gave you? The latter is fixed. The one on your computer depends on how it is allocated, but it can always be set manually. Just make sure that if you have a router your turn DHCP off on it.

The one on the pc, what command would you use and would it be at the command promt?

You need to know the TCP/IP address you want, along with the DNS servers of your ISP.

My IP address isnt fixed from BT. It changes everytime i re-connect.
