What are the top 10 Xbox games

Agreed Supna, I was going to buy my lunch today, but mugged an old granny outside Tesco's instead. Similarly my car tyres were getting a bit worn, 4 piles of bricks and a handy donor car sorted that one out. Bugger this 'paying for things' lark.

Whilst you have a point Jack (over-made though it is); the principal reason for piracy, personal as opposed to organised, is the inflated prices charged by distributors and retailers. An X-Box game bought for £35 in HMV or Game will have been bought by the re-seller for less than half of the retail price; after accounting for the distributors profit and Microsofts margin the games developer is left with a fraction of the purchase cost.
Far far fewer people would be interested in copied audio CDs or console games if the retail channel were less greedy.

They also seem to be the first ones to complain when no new games are being developed <sigh>.....
Anyway, on my list at the moment...
1) PGR2
2) Jade Empire (short but engaging)
3) Forza motorsport (well I like it)
4) Baldurs gate II Dark Alliance - and oldie, but lots of axe wielding fun
5) Full spectrum warrior

Rainbow 6
Tiger woods or Links
Pro evo soccer 4
Crimson skies
Splinter cell chaos theory (other 2 are vgood too)
Burnout 3 (online was initially dodgy through EA, not sure if its sorted now though)

I dont do copied games, more so because they rarely work but also to support the developers. £30 for a game from Play or Asda is a night on the beer, and well worth it for a game you spend hours on.

Knights of the Old Republic I & II
On the piracy issue, games are costing more to develop, hence the increased cost. Problem for seasoned gamers is that a lot of the games don't present much difference to older games apart from better eye candy. I'll be interested to see how much the PS3 / XBox 360 / Nintendo thing games are priced at. I'm assuming they will be more than current games due to the games 'looking better'

They are RRP'd at £49.99 on Play.com selling for £39.99, and I agree with you its only the eye candy that is getting better, they could do with adding something to the gameplay.
I do think £50 is too steep for a game, but the prices will drop fairly quickly.

I used to 'acquire' games but don't do this any more. Why? Because I'm playing less games and tend to put my money into a game that I enjoy. This is becoming rarer as time goes on, so I'm finding I'm spending less money anyway. It's rare to get a game that is so good I end up playing it all the way through without getting bored at any point. In fact the last game that managed this I think was Final Fantasy VII when it first came out. That sucked 60 odd hours of my life away but I enjoyed every minute of it
On the price issue, as a schoolkid with little money (although that's no justification), we'd still copy £1.99 Mastertronic games for the Speccy because it still saved us £1.99. This was an agreement between a mate and I where we'd buy alternate games and let the other person 'acquire' them. The only way you'll stop piracy is to make it all free which isn't going to happen.

I bought dozens of games on ebay for my XBOX, even though it is chipped with the latest xecutor 3. I tend to use it for emulators N64, gamecube etc, even PC emulators, and for DIVX and MP3.
I got PGR2 and Dead or alive 3 together for 8.99 + 1.50 postage on ebay and they are originals. So where are they coming from at that price ?
The only one I can't get cheap is Forza - even on ebay it is £22. But in a month I bet I can get it for under a tenner.

I know there are some game developers on here (and other software developers), so what do you think of the second hand game market? Does this not also mean that developers see no further cash from their efforts? Is the more common trading in second hand games another reason for cost issues, whilst being a legal one?
Sorry to drift off topic, but I've always wondered what developers thought of the second hand games market. I've started buying more of my games off ebay and places like gamestation second hand. Now I'm older (and a little wiser ) I'm more willing to wait for the price to come down to what I deem is an acceptable level before purchasing

That's just the same as any industry though (2nd hand cars for example). However, for them to be sold 2nd hand, they had to be bought new at some point so the developers wages will have already been paid. Also in the shops like game, gamestation etc that trade games, you usually hand in a few old games to purchase a new one, so it may generate a sale that otherwsie wouldn't have happened.
Piracy is a far more damaging problem.

Iain, is it not true then say (pre 2nd hand games available in shops) said shop sells 500 copies of new game. Now in the 2nd hand market, they initially sell 100, but then start getting some back as trade-ins which they then sell on again, with some new purchases of said game, reaching a total of say 300 'new' sales. This shows a net drop in sales of said game and money back to developers. Or does it not work like that (quite possible as I am a) not in retail, and b) not a games developer).
Is the shop the only profit maker in selling a 2nd hand game? I'm all for 2nd hand game places as it saves me quite a bit on the games I buy, but as I buy more 2nd hand games, I get the feeling that none of my money is going back to the developers (well their company).
Rich, sorry for the drift, it got me thinking about the 2nd hand market No star wars games in your list

The games market works exactly the same as any other. If you buy a 2nd hand washing machine from a shop, Hotpoint doesn't get to see any of that money, and the same is true for 2nd hand games.
Developers / publishers only make money from the original sale of the new game.

Some good games there though mate. Enjoy
