Unhappy Windows Safe Mode

Hope someone has some ideas !

Turned computer on this morning and popped to kitchen when I came back it looked like it has started in safe mode. I shut down and selected it to start in normal mode but it still opens in what looks like safe mode. Display is all large etc.

Any ideas how I can sort this out?

Thanks,

Meanie

What version of windows??, maybe worth going into device manager and checking to see whats going on with your graphics card, see if there is driver issues.....try changing the resolution back, if no success then try reinstalling the graphics card drivers......

click on start (bottom left)

click on control panel

double click on display

within the box that opens up, click on settings

you can then change your screen resolution

Thanks Eldudereno - thats how I thought it was done but it hasn't fixed the problem.

I managed to get everything looking a bit smaller by downloading a driver update from Windows Update page but there is still something wrong?!

If I try using the tools feature and check for errors on the C drive, it says ''scandisk could not continue because a program such as a disk utility has locked the drive''. I'd imagine this is connected to the probs I'm having. Anyone got any ideas what sort of utility could be causing the probs? onder2:

Thanks

I'm running Windows 98.

I'm getting the cd drive replaced on Monday so think I'll ask them to have a look as I think it will be easier. Although I'm sure they'll charge extra!

Appreciate all the advice / help suggested.
