I have a need for a resonably cheap bluetooth broadcast box. I don't even know if what I need exists, hence me asking on here. The basic thing is that it needs to send little notes to people who have their device set to discoverable. If they choose to accept the item then it will send them a small amount of text and maybe an image. Nothing more than about 80k. The information will always be the same and won't need to change.

The thing is, I know I could do this with a computer and a dongle but I could do with it just being a dongle in itself as when its in situ I don't want anyone to be able to change the info it broadcasts. Something relatively small and cheapish would be ideal as it may end up in public places. Something I can basically set with the information I need it to send out and just leave it there doing its thing for a while until I want to go and pick it up.

I have already thought about a cheap PC and PDA's but they are too nickable.

Does such a thing exist?

Could probably do it quite easily with an old iPaq running Linux together with a Bluetooth CF card. Stick the lot inside a tamperproof box and there you go
