Default ADSL being a pain in the...

Ive got ADSL from virgin (leaving at end of month) and it has now decided that it wont connect unless i have the phone off the hook. Then i get the woman telling me to put the handset back and then the alarm goes off lol. Is this something i can fix? I have moved the filters around etc but still get some crackling on the line. BT say that the line is fine and if someone comes out and its computer related i.e my modem or something i will have to pay.

Any ideas?

Does it work correctly if you only have one phone and one filter in use? If so, you need to persuade BT to boost your signal.

Sounds like a crappy microfilter. Buy one of these: http://www.adslnation.co.uk/products/xf-1e.php
