Reinstalling Windows after Linux problems
In need of some help here as I appear to have done something stupid
I have a spare PC which I decided for a bit of a saturday morning task I would throw a copy of redhat fedora linux at and see what I made of it.
Now without going into too much detail the linux is going to take a while to get used to so I attempted to start from scratch and put windows back on the machine until I'm ready to really give some time to learning linux.
Now this is where it gets messy. I have attempted to install windows xp pro from a CD, all appears to be fine until I attempt to boot from the hard drive after the initial install phase to be greeted by the message "Error loading operating system".
The Fixmbr option doesn't rescue it and I'm just wondering what to do next. I'm sure theres a solution but its beyond me!
Cheers
David

I'd try booting from a boot disk, and use fdisk to delete all the partitions on the drive (asuming of course that don't want to keep any data on the drive) before starting again with the windows installation.

Hello
If you boot from the Windows CD again, there should be an option to remove all partitions before installing.
As above though, only useful if you don't want any of the data on the drive...
