Windows Media Player problems

Everytime I try to access a link to a .wmv file media player freezes my entire PC

The only way to get it back is to switch of the power

I have ZoneAlarm, in what way could it be causing the problem?

i had a similar problem,switch it off and try to view a film if its ok you know its that.might be trying to connect to the net and ur firewall is stoping it so u lock up.
