XP - very slow login!
what is causing XP for the very slow login (after entering username, password and domain)? it's the same logging into a NT4 or AD domain. i have checked all network settings and they are OK (DNS, WINS, suffix, etc).
if i leave the PC on the network (without logging in) long enuf for about 15-20mins, and then login, it goes in as normal.
what can cause the slow login?

did checked the profile and it is not big. the weird thing is if the laptop (thinkpad x31) is left on the network long enuf, it will login as normal. but if from turning it on and login to the network, it will take at least about 3-5 mins!!!
XP can take a while to load all the network services. It keeps loading them in the background even when it gives you the CTRL-ALT-DEL login screen.
I had to enable a setting via our group policy for the workstations to wait until the services have started before giving the users the login screen.
It takes longer to show it, but it's much faster getting to the desktop once logged in.
Sounds like you have the same problem and some of the network services are still starting when you try to login.
