Which would be the better TFT screen for playing games on a PS2 and a PC?

2). Contrast Ratio 450:1 Response Time 16ms

Depends on whose panel it is and how they have measured the response time.

It's a Samsung SM730MP. It has inputs for both data (VGA) and video. I need a solution to work with a PC and a PS2 and this looks to fit the bill. Having a TV tuner built in is also a bonus. They do two different versions and from what I can see it is the Contrast Ratio and Response Times that are different.

I currently use my PS2 on a Sharp Aquos with 16ms response time, this seems fine. What does it actually mean, response time?

The average time it takes a pixel to change from fully off to fully on and back to off again. The way it is calculated seems to vary between manufacturer. Some faster panels sacrifice colour depth for improved response times.

check out tomshardware for details on response times.
They can be pretty meaningless in the real world. off-on-off can be excellent but getting from green-purple-blue can be rubbish.

You can have a sharp windows desktop with lovely colour rendition but absolutely pants video and game performance.

I think someone on here bought a low response NEC (??) and found it was atrocious at video.

Read the reviews, see it in action and buy according to your needs, not the numbers.

In general, 12ms response seems to be the best balance at the moment for image quality & gaming.
