Question Spyware ! Spyware !

OK no lectures as he knows he is a pervy bas but I am round at a mates and there is a HUGE great "you have looked at **** ! you will go to hell " thing on his desktop now.
I have run "Spybot" and got rid of some other not so nice stuff but the desktop screen is still telling him off.
I am in the process of downloading Microsofts Beta Spyware thing to give that a try but idealy just getting rid of the desktop background would be good for starters.
I have tried the "Display" option in the control panel to no avail.
Any thoughts ?
BTW you know its not my PC, I'm not in to all that dirty stuff

Any help will be greatfully recieved and may indeed save a marriage

m$ anti-spyware rocks better than anything else out there as you would expect as they have intimate knowledge of the OS!

Get a good anti virus package (Mcafee or Panda) & install it. Get a good firewall (Zonealarm) & install it. Get Lavasoft Adaware Plus & install it. Disconnect from the internet. Run a full virus scan in safe mode, reboot & run a scan in Adaware. Check that the Firewall is working correctly. Check add/remove programs for any starnge stuff & uninstall. Reconnect to the net, go to Windows updates & install every critical update. Go to Office updates & install every update (if you have office).

If Microsoft had that deep an understanding of their operating system they'd be fixing the vulnerablilities before someone else finds them. IMHO.

The product is very good though.

The MS package does not block tracking cookies, I prefer Adaware Plus which DOES block tracking cookies. Trcaking cookies are not dangerous as such, but some people resent the general principle of being tracked by advertisers.

Spybot search and destroy is also a brilliant bit of freeware (google it). Using Firefox as a browser stops unwanted automatic installations too even if you do look at ****

Agree the feature set in the software is what should have been in the OS from day 1 but hey at least they are realising that now!
