Question Microsoft Time synchroniser

Anyone know exactly what the Microsoft time synchroniser does in XP?? I used to have it enabled and, for the first boot of each new day, the drivers (I presume) for my ADSL Modem used to screww up. The PC refused to recognise the Modem unless and until I had done a shut-down-and-restart. Once done, everything was fine for the rest of the day (but no longer).

I've now disabled the time synchroniser and, hey presto, the problem has gone!!

AFAIK it logs onto the M$ site and resets the computer BIOS clock to M$ time. Bit like your videao/DVD setting itself to the Rugby signal.
