Can anyone tell me exactly what websites can find out about you when you access their site.

eg isp address, dsn name etc

Is there anything else they can get such the network card you are using or specific details about your pc?

Thanks.

Email address via cookies normally

There are some sites and software tools that show your IP address and internet explorere/browser versions.

I used a nifty application to trap users clicking on certain URLS..

IP address usually ID's your location within 4 square miles - depends on telco exchange layouts

So how do I check an ip address to see exactly where they are based?
Is there a site that does this?

depends on the ISP chap, something as simple as a traceroute will show up the exchange name their ADSL is connected to.

Fast_Blue_Scooby,

take a trip to grc.com and try running (clicking) "Shields Up!" which will tell you all kinds of holes and information leaks that you have

One things that a website can find is a thing called a "referred ID", or the URL of the site that you came from. Thus if you jump from, say, www.debbiedoesdallas.com to scoobynet, your secrets can be revealed!!
