Default Dell latitude laptops

Anyone had any experience/problems with Dhells Latitude D600 series laptops?

personal or work? we have them at work & they get errors in windows on a regular basis so im having to reinstall windows far too many times. Its just just plain not right, something seriously wrong is going on...

We've just had a desktop renewal incorportating Lattitude D600's running XP.

No probs so far with anyone in my department..............

No problems here with my work one. Works fine with XP.

i know they are all sales people using them they are carried everywhere & probably bashed everywhere but this shouldnt happen. One thought i had is that they dont like having their HDs swapped often...also dhell say they shouldnt be transported around too much

I've used and abused one for many years now. I change drives daily, drop it weekly and it still won't give up on me... wish it would as I'd like a new one.

we found lots of problems with Dell xp image on the D600's kept crashing all over, rebuilt image and OK but then an issue with docking staions and ps2 style mice / keyboard attched to them.
Resolved by giving everyone with a docking station a USB keyboard

There was problems with the mini docks when they first came out.

There is also still a known issue with the USB ports on the mini docks, basically, you get almost zero power via them. I.e. if you want to run say an ADSL modem off the mini dock USBs you need to first plug in a powered hub. Same for things like iPaqs that charge via USB etc.

Company runs 1000's of the damm things and no problems... Also no problems with the older C610's

I have one here at home for sale on behalf of a mate. Offers? Will try to get details from it, Running Dell XP - disk included - it's faster than my work one which is 600/700mhz and I think it has 256mb ram.

interesting to hear about the docking station & usb. There is one that keeps locking up, its been better since ive changed all to usb too. where can you see if usb devices are v1 or v2 & all are supposed to use the same irq?
