Thumbs down HP Laserjet 5500

Despite having three individual colour cartridges in the HP LJ5500DTN, every time that one of them runs out the printer indicates that all three need replacing. What are the chances of that? Call me paranoid but I feel we're getting ripped off here

Anyone else see the same effect? I could try printing 12000 pages of cyan only, as a test, but I can't be bothered

Just a thought, but does it indicate which cartridge has run out and have you tried only replacing that one to see if it still works?

It does indicate which has run out, but on replacing that one displays a message to the effect that the next needs replacing, and then the next. It refuses to print if these instructions are not followed

Dont get me started on hp, bunch of ****'rs. Ive spent the last hour trying to get them to do a replacement on an obviously faulty 3330 but they want me to update the bios (after being transfered and cut off 6 times) Since when did a software update fix a hardware problem?
