Son's PS2 stopped loading any games, replaced the laser and it now plays some of them - tried realigning the laser on the games it wouldn't play but made no difference. Now it loads the games but then freezes while playing games - any ideas?
He reckons if he buys a brand new game it'll work fine for a few weeks then stop loading - all the games work ok in his friends newer PS2.

I did read somewhere that one of the companies that fitted new lasers also fitted a new 'component' to the motherboard that also gives problems to the 003 series - which this is.

Any thoughts - don't want to skip it after sticking in a new laser @ £30.
