Default CCTV, internet and security

i am currently installing sum cctv cameras at my office, they come with scart leads to plug into the video or tv, one of them features a motion sensor which switches the channel over on the TV to let you know sumbody has walked past the sensor.

now im looking to use my old pc in there along with broadband for genral useage, can i hook up these cameras to a pc to record the footage (i figured this shouldnt be very hard) but can i also broadcast this via the net, so i can keep track of things while i am not there

i would like to be able to check "live" if the premises are secure and stuff while i am at home

the 2 cameras feature infra red for night time useage

how would i go about converting the 2 seperate scart inputs into sumthing that the pc will accept?
and how do i "watch" these cameras from home?

Alright alright I'm here now

Right what you need is a cheap DVR card off ebay or the like you can get them for about £15 but don't expect it to make a cup of tea (bit like Puff ) Then you need to find the video output going into the scart lead then convert that to bnc or phono depending on what sort of dvr card you get then on most dvr software you can have remote access, this bit I haven't tried myself yet but I know it works speaking to other people.

One like this will do or find one that has 50fps plus it will be better but no audio on them on the smaller cards you can have audio recording as well on one camera

thank you, i was looking at the ebay cards, but i was put off by the fact that none have a scart input, can i chop the cables off and just fit the correct plugs?

or does it need sum fancy shinanigans to convert the signal from scart to bnc/coaxil/phono?

Now all you have to do is ensure that no bugger breaks in & steals your PC

Mmmmmmmmm chocky bickies

Right here is some info

Going by the the info below if you open up the scart plug it should be pins 18 & 20

If you can't take the scart lead apart ie moulded plug you will need to find a scart back to back plug and then get a scart to hono lead for each camera

Keen electronics KA146 £3.99 and KLD2 £5.99
The following information relating to the Scart Plug (Euroconnector/Peritel) could be found useful when concocting leads to connect your PCW, CPC or Spectrum +3 to a Television or Video recorder. The data has been checked against a number of technical references and should be correct.

thank you

cant wait lol
told one of the lads today that i would be able to sit at home and remotlely check the cameras and he thought it was amazing, until i said i would be able to ring him up and tell him to get his feet of the desk when i wasnt there

dont think the pc will be nicked TBH
its an old 1.2athlon thing thats been kicking around my room for a while, besides theres allready a pc in there that monitors the car wash and thats been there for 10 years

the place is alarmed anyway

to be honest its more for me to check on the staff then to prevent thefts lol
