PS2 or Xbox...
I'm sure it's been asked 100 times before, but what are people's opinions ?
I've got both and still prefer the Ps2 for it's games, even though it's not technically as advanced, but I'm getting one for a friends kids (11yo girl and 8yo boy) - so what would be best for them ??
Does the xbox run ok on an inverter for car use ?
Opinions please ?

Xbox, better games, better visuals. I have far more games for my xbox than my PS2. If a game comes out on both formats I buy the xbox version. I also prefere the Xbox controllers.

I prefer the xbox controller too, I have to admit. The steering wheel is plug and play too, whereas the ps2 one is a bit of hassle to get right.

Given it's for an 11 yr old and an 8 yr old, I'd go for the PS2. Bigger game base, lots of older games cheap 2nd hand, easier to handle controllers for the little-uns, more kid-friendly games.
They can trade it in for an XBox in a few years time
I have both (and a GC) and personally prefer the XBox, but them I'm grown up (allegedly )

How many of you that have recommended the XBox over the PS2 are 11 or 8 years old? Do you really think it's a better machine for a child of that age or is it just me that thinks the PS2 is better suited to kids?

I reckon PS2 just for the amount of cheap games available if it's going to kids.
Xbox has a more adult userbase it seems, ok ok adults have PS2's as well but how many of those have gone on to buy the Xbox!?

I used to be very anti xbox, as it was an MS product, plus I've been loyal to the Sony brand, and not just the PS, for many many years, and I used to have a PS2 back in the UK.
However, chatting to a few chaps here, one of whom has both xbox and PS2, they commented that xbox would probably be better, espeically the online gaming aspect. So, I got an xbox, and have recently got my LIVE sub and I've not looked back.
Maybe it's me, but I see the xbox as more of a cut down PC than I do the PS2, probably because that is technically what the Xbox is.
Give it a keyboard and mouse (oh please, that would make playing halo much better) and there you go.

PS2 for some things mainly Gt3 and GT4 when it eventually comes out, Everything else I use an Alienware Area 51 m. Not impressed with xbox specs, when compared next a PS2 they are better, Compared to even a mid range pc it`s dire, But as it only has to run in 640 * 480 it doesn`t matter that much as it doesn`t have to run higher than 60 frames a second. Now the next Gen should be good. Xbox 2 with some sort of Ibm Power Pc processor and an ATI graphics card. PS3 IBM`s cell Processor(s) and a graphics processor by Nvidia. And the new Nintendo Yet another IBM Power Pc processor and unknown graphics hardware. Guess the only major winner here is going to be big blue.

Will enquire over the weekend. I know what you mean by getting a guarantee from the Barras but it is a bone fide shop which sells, repairs and chips PS2 and Xbox. The Sony warranty is null and void as soon as you open the case but the shop will honour the warranty for a year. They have been there for a few years now so nowt to worry about and we have had about a dozen PS2's chipped with 100% reliability
I will get back to you on Mon or Tues

Sounds good, thanks bud.
Does that mean they're available all week then ?? Never been to the barras and I imagined it to be like the Ingliston Sunday market with a handful of dodgy stalls that turn up when they feel like it!!
