Default has anyone changed the name of a 2k3 server domain

still not sure weather we should do this, but we inherated a single lable domain that gives us nothing but grief

we have 3000 + pc's and I dont want to be the person who push's the button

what you guys reckon

Id try not to if I were you.. It will take more than 1 push of a button.. machines domain membership may get screwed up.

I decided to do this as the domain name was just a single label, not a .com or whatever and it was causing me problems.

I read the instructions on how to do this, and decided it was a bad idea, better to just live with it.

I hate inheriting IT installations setup by retards.

Read the MS document on doing it, you'll soon decide it's a bad idea. Involves a reboot of every machine in the forest once and every machine in the changed domain twice.

thanks guys, I totally agree but its not my call to make

im in Charge of the desktops / sms/ sus but the ad boxs are managed by another team...... they have set up a test bed and keep saying it will work

was hopeing for a " I changed the domain and it killed every thing "

how you finding xp /2k service pack 4 etc etc etc do you know it is no lionger supported by microsoft


we have had a bit of a nightmare
