Default Best broadband for me

Thinking about getting broadbeans installed at my flat. Anyone any suggestions for providor given the following requirements (currently on wannadoo 56k connection for about £15 which is only a coupla quid less than some broadbean connections that do free connection/equipment).

Basically want faster surfing
Will download some stuff but not a great deal (2GB per months seems ok?)
Maximum £20pm but something nearer £15 preferable)
1m connection preferable
Wanna be able to connect my ps2 and play against a mate on mulitplayer games (is this easy to set-up? do we need anymore than both having the actual game of course? or does there need to be an on-line server etc?)

I know a bit about computing so if money can be saved by me buying/setting up the required equipment then all the better.

So far I've seen Wannadoo 1m connection with 2GB limit for £18 a month with free connection/equipment. Good deal?

Bulldog 1mbps for £25 per month, its 512kbps from 9 'til 5 but youre probably at work then. You will have to pay a connection fee of £50 + VAT too. If you dont want a contract or to pay a connection fee Id recommend Virgin at £25 per month for 512kbps with a modem and filters for a tenner too.

For the online PS2 you'll need one of these, but I guess you'll know that already

I'm with v21, paying £16.99 per month for unlimited download at 512kbs. There was a connection fee as we're on a monthly contract (not gonna be in the house for a year)

Is 512 good enough for gaming (ps2 and pc) or is 1m the way to go? would a 2GB limit be too small for gaming? (i.e. would it get used up really quickly?)

Can someone explain how the gaming thing works. Me and a mate each have a ps2 but little idea how to play against each other.

Eclipse are the nuts mate. You may pay a little extra but well worth it. Plus you are not tied to a 12 month contract like all the others. Eclipse is a month to month basis.

Try EFH broadband.com I've just switched to them and had no issues at all. The 512k service is £9.99 /month + vat.
Very good to deal with as well

I would recommend plusNet.

Their ADSL Lite 1Mb package (which is what I'm on) sounds like the package for you.

1Mb connection costs £14.99 per month with 1Gb downloads per month included. Extra Gb can be pre-payed at £1.75 each, or £2.00 each "pay-as-you-go".
Package included lots of goodies, such as PHP, mySQL, spam filters, unlimited email addresses etc. Customer service is pretty good.

I THINK they are also doing free connection at the moment, but I'm not sure.

If you go with them, please use my username ("dharbige") as the recommender!

[Flame suit on]AOL do 512Kbps for £17.99 a month, no usage or download caps/limits. Not anywhere near as bad as people make out, I've just ordered 2Mbps connection (£34.99 a month) and great performance & reliability for me the past 3 years 56Kbps>512Kbps>1Mbps>2Mbps

Also I never have compatibility problems with Anti-Virus progs, Firewalls etc etc like I know others do particularly with Telewest , plus less problems as Internet Explorer isn't used[/Flame suit off]

Well I've upgraded to wanadoo 1m service and I have to say I'm very happy with it. BTW they can't actually monitor your download levels at present so I've effectively got unlimited use until they introduce the limits sometime in 2005.
