EA North America have released 'conceptual' shots of the visual quality they feel they can achieve on next gen systems, due Q4 2005.

Very nice indeed. I can't wait to see what they can achieve once they've been out for a couple of years.

When's that? Some time in 2006?

Jack, as always with new hardware, is difficult to say exactly.
Current industry speculation is that Xbox 2 will launch slightly ahead of PS3, possibly as early as next Christmas, with PS3 following early in 06.
However some feel that Sony may launch at least in Japan in time for Xmas too.
Both products are being unveiled officially at the E3 show in America in May, so we are likely to know launch dates and pricing etc. by then at the latest. It will undoubtedly be the most interesting show for years...

Ohh this'll be interesting.
I really hope MS don't rush out the XB2 just to keep up with Sony. Look what happened to Sega who tried to do the same with the Saturn/PS1 and Dreamcast/PS2....

Wah - yes the detail levels are the same, looks like the EA shots have had some 'soft filter' post production tho as what I saw was razor sharp.
XB2 will not be running Unreal graphics software. I'm friends with Mark and Jay who own Epic, so you can trust me on that one
