Question Windows XP Password Problem

My mate has upgraded his pc & fitted a new hard drive, on which he has installed Windows XP Home. Once this was done, he then plugged in his old hard drive to copy his My Documents folder stuff over to his new installation, but the problem is that it won't let him access the files but says 'You do not have permission to access this folder'.
Anyone know a way around this?

Cheers,

Darren

Old & new drives in the same physical PC?

If so, then login as the local administrator user, then right-click the folder he needs to access. Select Properties, then the Security Tab.

Note: If this isn't available, then goto the folder view. Select Tools -> Folder Options -> View tab. Scroll down and turn off the "Use Simple File Sharing" option

Ok, once in the Security tab, click Advanced and select Owner. Change the owner permission for the logged on user - click the replace owner on subcontainer folder option

That should assign full permissions to the Admin user on the new XP install.
