Ram problem
I have a Abit mobo, that can take a number of Dram strips,
I have 2 256mb strips,
I have a odd problem with my ram, when i boot from cold, i only get 256 showing and available.
if i leave the pc on for about 20 mins and shut down and reboot, the whole 512mb is shown and available
any ideas anyone

What happens with only one stick of RAM installed?
What about with only the second stick?
Tried moving them to different slots?
We need to establish if the motherboard is faulty or one of the memory sticks.
If one stick gives you 256mb all the time then the other stick is faulty
If both exhibit the same faults then it gets harder to diagnose
