Default Copy protection/Watermarking

Hi peeps,

I'm in the process of setting up a store to allow the downloading of films (to which I have the rights). Now I have access to more content but I think if I can prove the content is more secure/uniquely watermarked I could secure a better distribution details.

Basically im selling specialist downloadable AVI files (700MB) and I need to reduce the piracy as much as possible but also retain the ease of use that normal AVIs have at the same time. Ideally it would also work cross platform also, without huge downloads and the like to install crippleware on the PCs.

Has anyone done this or does anyone know of a good scheme that works in this regard ?

Failing that, if people know that the files are digitally watermarked (each file digitally fingerprinted to the user if possible, and traceable it will make them less inclined to copy/distribute the files. Also is it easy enough to automatically insert a robust watermark into a copy of the file before its downloaded (ie on the fly)

Please help as i've drawn a blank so far !
