You know the ones,
Bottom righthand corner, flash back and forth when connected to the net.
A mate has just set up his connection and they arent there and it isnt auto disconnecting when he closes down his browser. He is PAYG so it could be an expensive mistake to leave it logged on.
How could this be resolved ?

Assuming you're on xp...
Bring up the window displaying your network connections (can get to it from the "my network places" link and selecting the appropriate link from the left hand side of the window).
Right click on the network connection, select properties...
On the general tab, ensure that the "Show icon in notification area when connected" checkbox is ticked.
