Unhappy Laptop Display Problem

Help folks
Just noticed when I turned on my laptop last night that display looks quite dim. Not changed anything as far as I know and if you turn the brightness up it just washes out the detail. Display is the same on battery or mains.
Any ideas anyone as help greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Does this happen both when using the DC adapter and using the units battery?

If not and it's OK with the mains feed I'd say it's your battery. Do you find that the battery doesn't hold it's charge as long as it used to???

Hi there
No - the display is dim on both battery & mains power. Usually when you switch between the 2 modes you can see the screen get brighter/dimmer but now it just stays dim. Battery is still quite new and holds charge well. Any more ideas?

sounds like you are not using the full display size of the screen. Reset it to the maximum allowable desktop size and see what happens. Laptop displays are not good when they are set lower than max settings and lose definition. Worth a shot anyway.

Hi
I got the same laptop and had the same fault!

Its the backlight display thats at fault... there's a high power resistor that blows.
Mine first went when 7-10 months old and Fujitsu repaired it under warranty (courier collected it / returned it after repair)
I think they probably just took out my HDD and put it in a new machine 'cos I'd marked everything up and it was deffo a new case.

The second time it went it was out of warranty, I rang Fujitsu up and they sent out a courier again. 7 days later I had it back all ok, and no charge!

I did'nt have my receipt either, just gave them the serial number off the laptop and told them what company I bought it from, that was it.

Give them a ring, you have nothing to lose.

Bob

Hi there
Thanks for the info. I'll get on to Fujitsu and see what they can do.
Scoobynet comes good again.
