17" LCD Monitor....What and how?
Can anyone recommend a brand/model of monitor for work? I don't really want to spend over the odds but want it to be alright for me to stare at all day long etc. It's not for games etc so I don't suppose refresh rate is a big deal, but then I don't have a clue what I'm tlaking about so er... you tell me.
Would like 17", prefer it in black (tart)... like to know I'm not buying a complete dog, I don't even know who the best manufacturers are for LCD flat screens?
If anyone can suggest a price competitive supplier that would be great too... I was thinking DABS or something??
Thanks for your help in advance anyone.

The new Dell ones are pretty good. It depends what you want really. I look for brightness and colour calibration options, but you might just want a basic one for doing some web browsing and word work. If so just get the cheapest one off ebuyer you can find.
PS LG guarantee zero dead pixels which is quite good.
Especially if you get any bigger.

Hi Everybody!
For your usage I would say that there is a wide range of choice. All I would say is that for a clean crisp display you want one with DVI input.
Of course this assumes your graphics card has DVI output.
No point getting one at all unless its supports digital. IMO of course.
I have been very happy with my LG1710b (in silver) - it got excellent buyer feedback on e-buyer. But you could buy cheaper I'm sure.
If you're not too fussy about brand you should be able to get one for less than £300 easy.
Cheers

I can recommend samsung, liteon, and slightly less quality benq(these three and a couple more make up the oems for most companies anyway), I can also recommend most of the tfts with the dell branding(great customer service). As stated above you should be looking for DVI if your compatable.
