Creating a second volume/partition in Win2000
Hi,
I have a PC with HDD (C: ) and CDROM (D: ). Problem is I need a second partition on the HDD to be D: (the CDROM can be anything it wants). What's the best/easiest way to do with without resorting to other software? I was thinking about using the subst command to give me a virtual drive, but not sure if this would allow me to use D: if the CDROM is already assigned to it.
I'm looking at FDISK as well, but not really familier with it...
Cheers

From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?
Right Click My Computer, - Manage
Go to logical disk manager. right click on cd drive and say change drive letter / path...
Change that to be E: create partition in spare space etc.. or change drive letter of existing one.

no-one uses subst any more mate..... there are other ways now...
as dave said in disk manager you'll see the c: and hopefully some grey stuff to the side - thats the spare space to turn into new D:, right click on that and create the partition, then format it. If youve used up all the drive space making it all c: then you'll either have to divide it up (using 3rd party software like partition magic - but it may not work ...) or add a new HDD.....
