Can i find out who these Premium Rate number belong to?
Hi
Got a hefty phone bill today
On there are the obligatory teenage daughter 30 mins of call to her mates mobile who lives 100 yards up the road
Now i have spotted two Premium Numbers, they are:
09099 677248
09067 340426
Total bill for just under 5 minutes is £5.30
Hers the cruncher. I also have a bill for phoning an International number in Sao Tome WTF is that Sounds like somewhere near Bogatar This was a 20 minute call and cost £23.00
Contrary to popular belief i am not a drug dealing perv who phone sex lines so dont go down that route
BTW it is strange that *Sonic* was at our house on those occasions but i cant blame him even though he is the most likely source
Any help most welcome
Cheers
Incidentally the phone bill was £183.85 and i dont even have dial up

09099 appeared on my phone bill today - one called for £16.50!!!
I noticed recently how some Spanish msn-messenger add-ons had installed themselves onto my PC, and it seems my sis has been stung by a pop-up redialer
Ive read about these before, how they redial whilst your online, but still very pis$ed off - some scum out there will do anything for £££

LOL @ Steve
Okay, i've spoken to BT and the two Premium numbers are under investigation by ICSTIS and hopefully will be credited to my account. BT said not to pay the calls i have disputed and ICSTIS will let me know how it goes.
The other bill however to Sao Tome is east Africa and could of installed a dialer on my system they said that if it can be proven that one of the 09 numbers is linked to it then this will come off the bill.
BT advised me to get in touch with our ISP and tell them to run a check. I shall do this but i dont think my ISP can do anything about it but worth a shot
I advise everyone else to check their bills as the BT girl said that this is becoming very common and that our bill was quite small compared to others.
She said if i need any more info then i should go to ICSTIS. I suggest you do the same as this sort of thing is set to explode (her words not mine)
Thanks for the help
Pete
BTW i'm running Norton Antivirus, firewall and pop up stopper. HTF can they get passed all that

Andrew no nothing else shows
Lynne, many thanks, they are now on my system
SidHead, i changed recently to Broadband , i uninstalled all my dial up software and made my broadband account the default dial up, however i did not remove the internal 56k modem from my PC as i didnt think that with the software trashed and the Broadband set as default that it could still be accessed or could itself access out if the line isn't even connected!

You might want to consider installing a good firewall just incase you are being hacked and having the software installed remotely
Do a search in Computer Area plenty of advise in there

if you have broadband a dialup program is useless
especially if the modem is unplugged!!
i used to get them all the time, and i would hear the click as it disconnected the phone..
you can ask bt to block all 0900 numbers, it also stops the mrs ringing those trisha compos!

On a serious note, Redkop has directed me to a good firewall and i've now ditched Norton as advised i've put a spyware blocker on.
Thanks for all the help Lynne....YHPM Just as a side note, since i've disabled Norton firewall and installed these few freebie programs, my system seems to run a lot quicker................. which is nice
Thanks again, it does seem to be pretty solid and safe now (well according to the event logs and settings anyway)
In any event i'm not letting *Sonic* access his favorite site from here anymore http://www.bigboys_for_bigboys.com

browser helper objects from being loaded, and your home page being reset..
prehaps you need to a reverse charge call to the 099 number to recoup your losses..

Redkop gave me the link for Spyware Blaster, its now on
Reverse charges Funnily enough there was one of those on the bill. Apparently a call came through and my Daughter answered it, it was the operator asking if she would accept a reverse charge, she said yes , when it was connected the phone went dead................ That cost me £2.63 for 10 seconds
