Talking IPOD: I am buying a new toy at the weekend! :D

I haven't had ANY toys for sooo long, I feel the need to spoil myself,
and a shiney small white thing springs to mind!

I havne't found anywhere cheaper than this: (if anyone knows of better
please let me know).

http://www.jigsaw24.com/proddesc.asp?ITEM=M9244BA

OR

http://www.jigsaw24.com/proddesc.asp?ITEM=M9268BA

Last time I looked for an Ipod ealier in the year, Amazon were selling
20 giggers for £297, not sure whether to go for a 20 gig which is
acutally pretty cheap now, or shell out that little bit more and get
the max?

Ahh it's a tough decision...

Any thoughts??

Cheers ears,

Nick

£214 for the newer 4G 20GB one on Amazon.co.uk
Just bought one back from the States for a pal which was a bit cheaper (£170 ish). The 3G one at Jigsaw 24 comes with a remote, carry case and dock which the 4G ones don't..BUT the 4G one has better battery life, comes with a USB cable (for PC connection) is lighter and has marginally better functionality. Swings and roundabouts really.. I have a 3G 20GB one (nearly full already, believe it or not!) but I think I'd have a 4G 20GB if I was buying one now..

I have a 4G 20GB and love it to bits, but doubt you will find it much cheaper than £200.

I'd go for the 4G 40 gigger myself. You get the dock, and other accessories with this one. There is also the fact that it would take quite a bit to fill it up so you will probably keep it longer.

Apple store sell them for £299.

You'll be lucky to scrape much of this from suppliers in the UK - if it's a new 4G model.

Stefan

P.S. Play sell it for £285 all in.
P.P.S. Just make sure you compare like-for-like. i.e. some will be old 3rd gens, others may not supply all the cables. For the sake of a few quid it may not be worth it.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but does anyone know if Apple offer a worldwide warranty.

My m8's offered to have his friend bring one over from Canada in a few weeks time (if I can wait ).

Just for comparison:-

US price $399 = £225 GBP
Canadian price $559 = 245 GBP
Australian price $649 = 250 GBP (just back from here too )

Yeah, I think Apple must have reduced the price. I'm sure it used to be the equivelant US dollar i.e. £399.

The engraving model is also available from any Apple Authorised Reseller but it takes time and add to the delivery time.

The prices will all be much of a much as we make so little on them. However if you do need any help please email me at allan.bayman@eu.mwhse.com ( MacWarehouse, Apple largest reseller )

Warranty is worldwide and done directly with Apple.

Good price and very surprising for Dabs. I would check it as the same stuff as you get buying through the Apple Store.

i.e. Apple Earphones
AC Adapter
FireWire cable
USB 2.0 cable
iPod Dock

Hi Steff, yeah it doesn't seem to mention the other kit, I am waiting to see what AlanB can do, if not I will get from apple website, it's only a few squids difference, and you get all the kit plus free engraving - ha, although I want 'get your tealeaf hands of you ****'s'

If others are interested perhaps a group buy from Alan if he is up for it?

My Brother can get a discount, but (as Allan's explained before) Apple's margins are cr@p. I've asked him to price a new 4th gen 40Gb one tomorrow.

The iPod dock's around £30 and the USB/firewire cable another £15. A £25 discount on just the iPod doesn't seem a great deal if you have to buy these seperately

The iPod comes in a sealed box though, I cannot see how they could remove the accessories and still sell it as new. I would think that the one Dabs is selling does come with all the accessories because of this.

Yeah I have pretty much made up my mind ot get the 40gig G4. I didn't really want to spend £300, but i'll be sick if I skimp out now, especially seems that by the time you've added the bits on, it's nearly the same price..

My brother said he can get one for £285, but there's a 3-4 week wait

I'm interested too Allan, but depends on price. I have a few options - wait 3-4 weeks from my Brother's work, get a m8 to bring one back from Canada (maybe 6 weeks) or get one from yourself via a Group Buy.

Cool Alan, I tried to email you at that address, not sure if you got it, email me details to clarke.nick@gmail.com I'll happily buy it off you, you're always very helpful, and be nice to send some business your way. If it's under £299 I am happy.
