TomTom Navigator 3 - wired or CF Card?
Right, i'm fedup of getting lost at the weekend whenever I go out with the Mrs, so think it would be wise to invest in TTN3 (thats the gadget buying excuse anyway ).
I have an Ipaq 2210 but cant work out which kit to go for.
www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk does a TTN3 package with a car kit, power cable etc etc for £160 so I assume i could just plug and play so to speak with that. I have a 256mb CF card which holds my software and a few 128mb SD cards for maps etc.
I have heard mention of a CF version as well though, so I could take the PDA with me on foot/on the bike and use it as a stand alone version. How does the CF version integrate in the car?
Is it possible to swap units between vehicles, or is it best to have a mounting kit in each vehicle?
Anyone know what my options are? And do you just pay the initial price, or is there any annual/monthly charges?
TIA

Men don't get lost - "we are trying a different route" or "shortcut" and we definately don't need direction from any passers by.

The problem with getting a CF GPS aerial is that you can't use the slot for memory at the same time. The full UK map is just over 100 meg so unless you can add an SD card (not sure which slots you have ) you'll be buggered.
I have a magnetic mount in both cars, but you'd need a second GPS aerial (assuming you go for fixed wire) and power lead and these can be quite expensive.
There are no ongoing subs to pay, just a one-off.

Prefer hard wiring, but can live with it if it makes transferring easier.
Anybody find TTN3 useful?
Read a few posts on the pocketgps forums and they say there are loads of UK towns missing from the database.

I recently bought the TomTom Navigator 3 kit for my Dell Axim. I am very pleased with it. So far it has got me everywhere I wanted to go. Its not always taken the quickest route but its always got me there. No more map reading arguments in the car!
