Command Prompt Screen Capture ?
Anyone recommend any command line activated screen capture apps ? Freeware preferred.
Or failing that, any apps that can send ALT+? keypresses from within a batch file ?
Cheers,
Dunk

What about piping the output to a text file? Then use something like http://tailforwin32.sourceforge.net/ to display the text file as it's being written to?

Thanks Miles, unfortunately I really need a graphical screenshot of Windows.
The only app I can find that can be launched from a batch file is Capturemation, its $36 but seems to do the trick
If anyone can think of any other (free) solutions, I'd appreciate some suggestions.

Use Autoit script tool. Version 3 is out now, but I've used version 2 lots of times and it's been very uselful.
http://www.autoitscript.com/AutoIt/
For this to work try the following (only for version 2.64)...
1. Create a script file (plain text) that has the following...
Send, {!PRINTSCREEN}
2. Save as a .aut file (eg screen.aut)
3. Convert the .aut to an exe with the Autoit utility
4. Have the batch file run the screen.exe
You screen print will now be on the clipboard.
Just tried it and it works here.
Let me know if you have any problems.
Edit to change the comment to "Send, !{PRINTSCREEN}" to include the ALT key.

Cheers Nimbus, I had downloaded AutoIt, but it all went a little over my head and I decided to stick with good old batch files
I'll try out AutoIt again, as it seems exactly what I'm after, a resulting exe would be ideal
Thanks for your help.

Thanks Nimbus.
I had another play with AutoIt and have knocked up a solution which just uses one compiled exe, a batch file & a 3rd party exe. All works just great, it takes a screengrab every 5 mins and uploads it to an FTP site.
Will have to learn some more skills and get it down to one GUI
PS. NP Miles, I probably should have worded the title better !

Hi DJ,
Sorry didn't get a chance to reply to you mail. I've used Auto it lots of times and I find it very easy now. It's a great little program. There are some script writers about too that will make the job of creating the scripts even easier.
Glad you've got it sorted .
