Default Blurring with an lcd monitor

Just got a samsung 172x but its got an annoying problem. When playing fps, everythings sharp until i turn using the mouse, where i get a screen full of blur. Moving forwards, back, left and right is fine, just when i turn. The monitors got a 12ms response time so im not sure what it could be.

Help please.

What model is it?? as that is the classic effect of a high response. Are you sure its not 12ms rise and then something like 13 fall as that'd make 25ms response. Also if it has a DVI port try running that as DVI makes a lot of difference.

Its the samsung syncmaster 172x. There website claim a 12ms, also reading some reviews state a 12ms reponse time. Tried the dvi cable but no difference.

Unfortunatley response time isn't everything, the tests measure black to white and back again (or the other way round maybe) and doesn't relate to changing colours like red to blue etc.

Good old http://www.tomshardware.com has loads of info on the whole LCD thing but again unfortunately has very little good to say about games on that screen....

but for games, it's a disaster
It's simply unplayable!
The problems start as soon as you begin to move.
The rendering is comparable to the worst 25 ms panels.
Sorry...

The whole thing:

that's an old review of the 16ms one

http://graphics.tomshardware.com/dis...13/lcd-05.html should be the 12ms one, don't entirely trust review sites, or magazines for that matter....
but any way..
U say its just when u use the mouse? does it still blur if u reconfig and use the keyboard?

Yep still got the blur. If it was down to the response time, wouldn't it blur all the time, not just when i turn? Seems strange that running forwards is as clear as day.

When I had a LCD with slow refresh it was only really noticable when something passed across the screen like somebody running by. One the Hitachi screen I now have I get no ghosting at all.
