Default Joining 2003 domain from XP

I'm trying to add my XP pc to my W2003 domain, when I select add to domain, the usual credentials appear (which normally means it's found it), but it will not join using the domains Administrators name and password. I'm sure I've seen this before with XP.

Any help appreciated.

I guess you're using Active Directory? Have you tried creating the Computer in the domain first? Maybe its not allowing computers to add themselves for security reasons?

"Active Directory Users and Computers" in Administration.

I seem to remember a similar problem when I was setting my network up. I was trying to add a 2000 DC to the domain, everything was setup as jules says with the ad users and computers applet but still no joy.

In the end I found a key in the domain security policy that was preventing me doing what I wanted.

I am sorry I cant remember exactly as it was a while ago. I resolved my problem searching through the knowledge base at the MS site.

Cheers, sorted now, hadn't realised I had a mapped drive to the server prior to trying to add to domain. It didn't like it.
